CCTV appeal following sexual assaults on Plymouth to Penzance train
British Transport Police would like to speak to the man in this CCTV image after a woman and a teenage girl were sexually assaulted on a train in Cornwall – do you know him?
The two separate assaults took place on the 12.39pm Plymouth to Penzance train on Friday, 20 November.
A man asked to sit next to a 16-year-old girl, who he then went on to touch inappropriately. After the teenager left the train at Bodmin Parkway, it is understood the same man approached a 20-year-old woman and sexually assaulted her.
Enquiries have established the suspect left the train at Truro and got on the 2.25pm train back to Plymouth.
Sergeant Paul Curtis from BTP said: “Nobody should get on a train and be subjected to these sort of advances and we take all reports of unwanted sexual behaviour extremely seriously – especially where those under 18 are concerned.
“We would like to commend the courage these victims have shown in coming forward and we are doing all we can to find the person responsible.
“We’d like to speak to the man in the image as we believe he may have more information about what happened. I’d urge anyone who knows him to contact us.”
Anyone with information about the incident can call BTP on 0800 40 50 40 or text the force on 61016 quoting reference 373 of 20/11.
Alternatively, information can also be given to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
