The Gold Dust Appeal, aimed at transforming Plymouth children’s wards, has hit the £25,000.00 milestone – an impressive quarter of the way to its target. And now we are asking for your help with the next step – Give it up for Gold Dust in January.

The Gold Dust Appeal aims to raise £100,000 to create bright, exciting and welcoming wards for local children and young people at Plymouth Hospitals.

We want to be able to care for children in a stimulating and sensitive environment with bright and spacious surroundings, which will provide greater comfort and privacy for children and their families.

Anita Dykes, Matron for Paediatrics at Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “Raising £25,000 is the perfect end to the year for all of us on level 12 at Derriford. I want to thank everyone who has got involved so far, by fundraising, by donating or by raising awareness. All their work is greatly valued and is helping us to achieve our grand total.

“It is also a sound foundation for the launch of our January campaign, Give it up for Gold Dust, where we would like you to add a little extra to your New Year resolution and either get sponsored for giving something up or donate the money you save.”

People on board so far include a Plymouth City Councillor, hospital staff and Araminta Cane, the mother of a child who has spent some time on Level 12.

Resolutions include giving up cake, caffeine and chocolate. For more information about the Gold Dust Appeal and how to get involved visit http://bit.ly/OurGoldDustAppeal and like the Gold Dust page on Facebook.
