Family have paid tribute to 64-year-old John Norris from Plympton, who died whilst cycling on the A379 at Stoke Fleming, Devon.

The collision between the cyclist and a Hyundai occurred at around 11.50am on Thursday 16th June on Blackpool Hill near Blackpool Sands. Mr Norris was taken to Derriford where he later died from his injuries.

The family of John Norris has released a picture of him sitting with his grandson Jack, and paid the following tribute: “John was a very special, warm hearted and caring man who was loved and respected by all who knew him.

“John was a keen cyclist and was a member of the Alltrax Cycle Club based in Down Thomas. He was due to ride the Dartmoor Classic Cycle Race in June and as an act of remembrance, his cycle club were able to ride in the race in John’s honour and carried his race number with them on the route.

“He will be sadly missed by his family but especially his son David, daughter-in-law Laura, his brother Graham, fiancée Lorna and his grandchildren.”

Police are still appealing for witnesses and would like to hear from anyone who can help with our enquiries. Please contact 101@dc.police.uk or call 101 quoting log number 312 for the 16th June.
