Rame Peninsula Male Voice Choir 40th anniversary concert
The award winning Rame Peninsula Male Voice Choir will be holding a 40th anniversary concert on The Green, Kingsand, on Wednesday August 3 at 7.00pm. (Congregational Church if wet).
The concert, which will be held outside the pub whose landlord inspired their launch in 1976, will feature an eclectic repertoire and appeal to all music tastes, from traditional Cornish numbers to opera, plus 60s rock and hits from major shows. Entrance is free but there will be a raffle for those who wish to purchase tickets.
In the year to April the choir raised more than £8000 for good causes (including the South West Mesothelioma Support Group) and their contribution to the encouragement of singing in their community resulted in the award of the President’s Plate by the Cornish Federation of Male Voice Choirs this year. That included performing to local primary school children in Cornish.
In the past 40 years they have raised more than £250,000 for worthy causes.
The choir has another concert on August 17, in Cawsand Square, also at 7.00pm.
They welcome new members and visitors to their weekly rehearsals (7.30pm) in Kingsand Community Hall. Visit rpmvc.org.uk for more information or contact choir publicity officer Doug Gillon on 01752 822307.
