Richard Bloss: About a Dog
An Author from Devon Has Written a Wonderful and Humorous Book About Life With his Dog.
Plymouth author Richard Bloss has released his novel; About a Dog is a fantastic book about the author’s adventures with Barney, the Westie crossed Cairn terrier, a “dishevelled scrap with his own distinct personality and character”.
About a Dog is full of real-life anecdotes from the author as he explains the true nature of owning a dog, as well as his relationship with Boh the cat, Barney’s desperate need for chewsticks, his love of walkies and the fear this dog experiences when he explores the next-door neighbour’s garden.
Richard Bloss remembers how he came up with his book: “the embryo of About a Dog was accidental – I had mentally written the first chapter even whilst driving back from the farm with Barney asleep on my lap”.
However, although this book may be quite literally about a dog, there is something more to its pages: “About A Dog can be viewed as a simple and roller coaster story book. Or it can be a view on how we as adults, live our life. I cover just the first two years of Barney’s growing up - but it is timeless, the elements of each chapter - are universal.”
Delightfully illustrated and comedically written to thrill and charm any reader, About a Dog is great reading for anyone who loves a dog as this book shows the trials, tribulations, and unbelievable joy that comes from owning a rapid-moving, sentient ball of fur.
Richard Bloss is the CEO of ProfoMedia Press Agency, has already published two other books including The Russian Tourist Guide to London, attended the Royal College of Music in London, Royal Holloway College, London University and is a concert pianist.
Barney, in contrast, loves to chase his tail and run around the garden.
“About A Dog is a dry, cynical, black, intensively funny, day to day account of how a little dog called Barney somehow becomes Richard’s best buddy, his soul mate, that opens a door to a new universe of affection… a story for every dog lover – and for all those that would like to be. It is a journey about all of us, in our relationships, our life situations, where – in smiling and laughing at Barney – we can look at ourselves”
