Plympton Academy students celebrate A level results

Students at Plympton Academy are celebrating their A level and BTEC results yesterday (16 August) with many securing places at top universities.

The Academy is celebrating 100% pass rates in A level maths, further maths computer science, geography, photography, psychology and religious studies, with many students achieving A* - B grades.

Investment in the new performing arts centre and the 3G sports pitch has paid off with outstanding vocational results. All students achieved at least a Merit on the full sports and performing arts courses, with 54% achieving the highest grades of Distinction* or Distinction.

There was also a 100% pass rate for BTEC business studies, health and social care, and music technology.

There were many individual outstanding performances. Amie Field gained three A levels: A (Chemistry), A (Maths), B (Biology) and is going to study medicine at Bristol University.

Natalie Russell achieved three BTECs and is going to do a Business Studies apprenticeship. She gained Distinction* (Travel and Tourism), Double Distinction, (Business Studies), Merit (Sport).

Emma Moore achieved three A levels: A (Biology), A (Maths), B (Chemistry) and is going to Exeter University to study maths.

“This year’s courses have been very challenging, it’s the first set of results from the new linear A-levels.” said Plympton Academy Principal, Lisa Boorman. “Our students should be very proud of their results as they’ve responded with hard work and resilience. Everyone here wishes each one of them the very best for their
future.”
