Plymouth becomes second Devon city to earn cash and prizes for good driving
Lightfoot, the creator of the first connected car technology to reward better drivers, has chosen Plymouth as the second city in its home county of Devon to benefit from its in-vehicle device. Lightfoot, which can be bought in Plymouth’s Halfords store at Marsh Mills Retail Park, is designed to help users become more efficient drivers for individual and global benefit. Research has shown Lightfoot can deliver fuel savings of up to 20%, as well as a reduction in harmful emissions of 10-20%.
Created to make smooth driving fun and rewarding, Lightfoot incentivises a safer, more efficient driving style with perks estimated to be worth up to £773.50 per year*. Benefits include 40% off AA breakdown cover, 20% off car insurance and 10% off vehicle hire with Thrifty, all in recognition of the cleaner, greener, safer drivers who make up the Lightfoot community.
Lightfoot also offers smooth drivers the opportunity to enter competitions and leagues, in which ‘Elite Drivers’ are eligible to win the latest tech, holidays, and experiences. To celebrate the launch of their product, Lightfoot have also announced a brand-new competition – the WIN250 League – that awards a £250 cash prize to a lucky winner every week.
Its technology has been extensively trialled by motorists in Exeter over the past two years, enabling the company to refine its technology and rewards platform in readiness for its launch to the wider public.
Lightfoot’s founder and CEO, Mark Roberts, commented: “We are hugely excited to be bringing Lightfoot to Plymouth. We launched in our home city of Exeter last month and, with the continued support of Halfords, we’re delighted that Devon’s largest city is going to be the next major centre to benefit from our driver rewards technology.”
“With Lightfoot, drivers can make a significant impact on their carbon footprint, save hundreds of pounds on fuel and everyday shopping, and make our roads safer for everyone.”
Having enjoyed exponential success in the fleet sector, in which forward-thinking customers including Virgin Media, Dyno Rod, and Greencore deploy Lightfoot to enhance fuel economy, safety, and employee wellbeing, Lightfoot’s expansion into the consumer market has been in the works for several years.
Lightfoot’s devices are for sale at an introductory price of £99 and are also stocked in Halfords’ stores in Yeovil (Houndstone Retail Park) and Exeter (Rydon Lane Retail Park). They also come with a month’s free subscription, worth £3.99, which unlocks more than 100 discounts on major national brands including adidas, Nike, Vue, ODEON, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Moss Bros, GAP, Ray-Ban, EE, Halfords, B&Q, Las Iguanas, and Bill’s. As Lightfoot becomes stocked in further Halfords stores, the device will cost £129, with a fitting fee of £30 and a monthly subscription of £3.99.**
