Devon’s Leading Rock Climbing Business Triumphs at Visit Devon Tourism Awards
The premier outdoors activities provider in Devon, Crag 2 Mountain won Gold in the Experience of the Year category at the prestigious Visit Devon Tourism Awards 2022 awards presentation which celebrated excellence across the industry.
Georgia Thomas, Business Owner & Lead Mountaineering & Climbing Instructor, collected the award from Robin Barker, Visit Devon during a zoom awards ceremony on 10th March 2022, with a live ceremony to follow in May. Mean while Baz Thomas, Business Owner, saw in the awards ceremony whilst in a snow hole up Ben Nevis!
Crag 2 Mountain are a family owned Adventure Activities Company based in South Devon on The Dartmoor National Park, providing coaching and guiding in climbing, mountaineering, navigation and caving. Most famous for their family Rock Adventure Session’s, a three hour adventure packed family fun activity! Explore an iconic Dartmoor Tor and scale impressive granite towers with Crag 2 Mountain’s Climbing, Abseiling and Weaselling (squeezing through holes and tunnels).
Throughout COVID Crag 2 Mountain knew the importance of giving families time outdoors, enjoying quality time and getting the economy back on its feet. To enable activities to take place again Crag 2 Mountain offered private family sessions to allow everyone to feel comfortable to take part, as well as maintaining their public sessions (with reduced numbers) for those wanting to keep costs down. In addition, new to their business was Guided Climbing, taking clients climbing on exhilarating sea cliffs and towering multi-pitch climbs.
Crag 2 Mountain has dabbled in business since 2013, going full time in 2017 when Baz & Georgia took the plunge to leave their careers as a Royal Marine and Physiotherapist. In a short time since 2017 Crag 2 Mountain have achieved Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence in 2018 & 2019 and Travellers Choice award in 2020 & 2021.
After successfully winning the Devon Tourism Award, Crag 2 Mountain were put forward to win a commended award in the South West Tourism Awards.
