5 events not to miss in Devon this August Bank Holiday
August bank holiday fast approaching, and Devon will be home to some fantastic events ideal for celebrating summer. From Air shows to beach adventures, Sweetcombe Cottage Holidays have sourced five events you don’t want to miss this bank holiday.
1. Sidmouth Regatta
Hosting an array of activities all weekend, including an incredible Air Show featuring the Red Arrows on Friday, the regatta is a must see if you’re in Devon over bank holiday. On Saturday you can enjoy races across the sea by the Surf Lifesaving Club and Sailing Club. If water sports aren’t your thing, Sidmouth Rotary club are organising a family treasure hunt for families to enjoy and street theatre will take place in the evening. 2. Gone Wild Festival
Get tickets for Gone Wild Festival at Powderham Castle for a weekend of fun and music. The main stage will see music from artists such as The Script to The Darkness and Ministry of Sound Classical, along with plenty of others throughout the weekend. A true family event, along with the music, there are a host of other activities available. Learn survival skills from expert instructors with the Bear Grills Survival Academy, or get active with climbing, open water swimming, and a specially built obstacle course. 3. Explore Crownhill Fort
Built in the 1860’s this incredible fort will be open this August Bank Holiday Monday for a special event. There will be incredible experiences throughout the day, including a canon firing! 4. Rockpool Safari
Perfect for families wanting an adventurous activity to keep the kids busy, join the Devon Wildlife Trust over the Bank Holiday at the Wembury Marine Centre before heading out to the beach to search rockpools for marine life. 5. Seaton Dinosaur Tram Adventure
If you’re looking for a fun filled day out with the kids, then the Seaton Tramway could be the perfect option. On 28th August they’re hosting a special event, The Dinosaur Tram, which offers a fun adventure for the little ones. Taking you from Seaton to a Dinosaur Activity Area in Colyton Station where you’ll excavate fossils, track dinosaur footprints and take part in a dig.
