Stagecoach SW confirm timetable changes
Stagecoach South West have announced today that following a review of supported bus services by Plymouth City Council, there are a number of changes to our Plymouth bus network. Stagecoach will be introducing three new services in partnership with Plymouth City Council.
Stagecoach has been awarded new contracts on Routes 4/4A/4B/4C, connecting the City Centre to Plymstock via Saltram Meadow, route 52 connecting Plympton to Derriford Hospital and the contract on route 200 connecting the City Centre to Coypool Park and Ride has been renewed.
The company also confirmed that in addition to the new services set for launch in the new year, there are also some changes to their existing GOLD, DY1 and 87/87a bus timetables. As part of the review of tendered bus services two of their existing bus services, Routes 19 and 31 will no longer operate. Passengers are advised to contact Plymouth City Council for details of any alternative services.
Outside of the company’s Plymouth network there are also a couple of changes in within the Exeter and North Devon areas of operation to improve reliability and punctuality of the bus service. Route 6A connecting Exeter and Okehampton has an additional journey introduced to cater for students connecting to Exeter College. Route 155 connecting Barnstaple and South Molton and bus service 346 have had some timetable tweaks to improve connections for the students using these services.

Plymouth Area Changes
Service 4/4A/4B/4C (City Centre to Plymstock via Saltram Meadow)
New Services 4/4A/4B/4C are launched operating from Plymouth City Centre to Plymstock via Saltram Meadow and 7 days a week from early until late. Route 4A will serve the Hooe via Saltram Meadow, with route 4B serving Elburton via Saltram Meadow.
Service 4A/4B will each operate hourly Monday to Friday daytime, providing a combined 30 minute frequency, with some early morning journeys operating as Service 4C. Service 4 will operate hourly each evening (last departure from Royal Parade at 2300) and throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday / Public Holidays.
Due to ongoing construction work at Saltram Meadow, the stopping arrangements are likely to change early in 2023. Passengers should refer to the new timetable for further details.
Service 19 (City Centre to Plympton)
Following a review of supported bus services by Plymouth City Council, Service 19 will no longer operate. Passengers should contact Plymouth City Council for details of any alternative services.
Service 31 (City Centre to Pennycross)
Following a review of supported bus services by Plymouth City Council, Service 31 will no longer operate. Passengers should contact Plymouth City Council for details of any alternative services.
Service 52 (Plympton to Derriford Hospital)
New service 52 will operate every 75 minutes Monday to Friday daytime between Plympton and Derriford Hospital via Estover. Some additional journeys will operate to Derriford Hospital in the morning peak and from Derriford Hospital in the afternoon peak.
It is anticipated that there will be a route and timetable change early in 2023 once access to and from Derriford Hospital is possible using Morlaix Drive.
Service 87/87A (Tavistock via Bere Ferrers and Bere Alston)
The Monday to Friday journey from Bere Alston at 1855 will now depart at 1905, which is designed to provide an improved connection with the rail service.
Service 200 (City Centre to Coypool Park and Ride)
Service 200 has been awarded as a new contract, operating up to every 20 minutes Monday to Saturday between 0630 (from Coypool Park and Ride) until 1910 (from Royal Parade). The new timetable for Service 200 will mean that the frequency of buses has increased from every 30-40 minutes to every 20 minutes.
There are no changes to the route of Service 200.
Service GOLD (Plymouth to Paignton via Totnes)
The Monday to Friday journey from Totnes to Plymouth at 0635 will depart 10 minutes earlier at 0625 to improve reliability and punctuality. The Monday to Friday journey from Plymouth to Paignton at 0740 will depart 5 minutes earlier at 0735 to ensure an on-time arrival at KEVICS.
There are some other very minor changes to departure times Monday to Friday daytime journeys and passengers are advised to check the new timetable before travelling.
Service DY1 (Chaddlewood to Camels Head Dockyard)
Following a review of passenger demand for Service DY1, some journeys will be withdrawn.
From 3 January 2023, there will be a departure at 0625 Monday to Friday from Chaddlewood to Camels Head Dockyard and a departure at 1610 Monday to Thursday / 1355 Friday from Camels Head Dockyard to Chaddlewood.
Exeter Area Changes
Service 95 (Exmouth – Sandy Bay) Change commences January 8th 2022
The Monday to Friday journey from Countess Wear at 0833 to Sandy Bay, arriving at 0920 will be withdrawn due to low passenger demand.
Barnstaple Area Changes
Service 155 (Barnstaple to South Molton)
There are minor changes to journeys at peak times Monday to Friday, which are designed to improve reliability and punctuality and better accommodate school and college movements.
Service 346 (South Molton to Tiverton)
An additional journey will operate Monday to Friday (College Days Only) from Tiverton Bus Station at 1810 to Witheridge, arriving at 1835. This additional journey is designed to provide additional journey opportunities for students returning from Exeter College.
