Drake Circus welcomes new independent bakery

A family-run local business, Mila’s Bakery, has opened its doors at Drake Circus.  

Located on Old Town Street next to Costa Coffee, the new bakery will be home to a cake counter filled with mouth-watering treats including freshly made gooey brownies, blondies and cookies in a variety of flavours, such as Battenburg, cinnamon, Biscoff.

It will also have a menu of hot and cold food and drinks, including made to order sandwiches, as well as a variety of other delicious desserts all available when dining in or for take away.       

Mila’s Bakery, run by 25-year-old self-taught baker Paige Brown, first opened a store in Plympton in 2019 for customers to pick up their tasty treats, but Drake Circus will be the first venue where visitors can dine in.

The bakery will be open from 9am – 6pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, 9am – 10pm Thursday-Saturday, and 10am – 10pm on Sunday.  

Paige Brown, owner of Mila’s Bakery, said: “Opening a new store at Drake Circus, and creating jobs for up to 12 new team members, has been a great achievement for us and we can’t wait for more visitors to come and try our products.

“Our menu has been growing quickly and we now offer an array of different products from brownies to sandwiches, which we hope our customers love as much as we do.”

I’m sure it’s going to be a very popular one bringing even more choice for those wanting a bite to eat while with us – whether that’s a meal from the menu or a sweet treat while they shop.”    

Mila’s Bakery is the seventh opening at Drake Circus and The Barcode this year, following Clintons, Laser Clinics, Lids, Suit Direct, Superdrug, and Boom Battle Bar.
