Sue Barker opens Northway Court
On 3rd May, the Holiday Property Bond opened its 35th site, Northway Court, Horns Cross, near Bideford in North Devon.
Northway Court was officially opened by Devon born tennis champion and broadcaster, Sue Barker CBE, who is also an HPB Bondholder – one of 41,000 UK investors.
The Holiday Property Bond is now 41 years old, having been launched in 1983. It now owns a total of 1,511 properties in the UK and Europe.
Northway Court has 18 cottages and apartments, an indoor swimming pool, a clubhouse and a tennis court all located in 7 acres with fabulous southerly views across Bideford Bay towards Saunton Sands.
The Holiday Property Bond bought Northway Court in 2019. It was already a long established holiday cottage development but in need of total refurbishment. HPB has spent over £7m in total renovating the existing farm buildings and in building 4 new cottages. Another £450,000 was spent on furnishing the 18 properties to the very high standards its investors now expect.
HPB Chairman and co-founder, Geoffrey Baber, says, “this has been a difficult development that has been hampered by one of the wettest winters in living memory. However, the end result justifies the hard work by local builders, Palmer Birch, and Barnstable architects, Peregrine Mears. Northway Court now employs 12 local people and we expect Bondholders and their families to spend over £1.8m each year in local shops and restaurants, thus further boosting the local economy.”
