Fun-filled day of dachshund delights and wagging tails!
Dozens of dachshunds descended on Coldharbour Field Kitchen near Ottery St Mary for a very special meet up.
The inaugural ‘Sausage Sunday’ proved a real draw for pooches from across the region, with visitors from Honiton, Exeter, Exmouth, Tiverton, Taunton, Plymouth, Torquay and Yeovil.
These instantly recognisable, long-bodied dogs are known for being lively, playful and clever. One particularly clever visitor was Ralph, who scooped the prize in the ‘guess how many treats in the jar’ competition with a close figure of 413 treats. He was ably assisted by his owner, Vanessa.
The event raised £160 for DMT Dachshund Rescue, the UK based registered charity which rescues dachshunds from kill shelters and the meat trade in Asia. Two DMT rescues, Maggie and Chip, came along to enjoy the special day.
Dachshund owner and co-owner of the Field Kitchen, Beth Ashfield said: “We were bowled over by the interest! Thank you to everyone who came along, we hope the pups enjoyed their photo opportunities and treats - puppuccinos and our yummy Coldharbour sausages.
“We’ve already received many requests to repeat the event from those who came and others who weren’t able to – so we hope to do another Sausage gathering in September!”
