Step into Adventure at the North Devon Walking Festival
Visitors can explore the spectacular landscapes of North Devon this May as the National Trust hosts its week-long Walking Festival from 12 - 18 May. Celebrating National Walking Month, the festival will offer a diverse range of routes, stretching from the historic East Titchberry farm in Hartland to the dramatic Lorna Doone Valley on Exmoor.
Walkers of all abilities can discover the area's wildlife, history, and conservation work through a different guided walk each day. Highlights of the festival include literary-inspired walks in the Lorna Doone Valley, exploring the scenery that influenced R.D. Blackmore's famous novel.
Visitors can join history tours and adventurous hikes at Arlington Court to learn about the estate's past and ongoing nature restoration projects. Coastal walks will take place from the dramatic cliffs of Heddon Valley to Woolacombe Down, where National Trust rangers are actively restoring vital habitats for wildlife.
A gentle walk around the historic medieval farm and wildlife-rich surroundings of East Titchberry offers a newly accessible route. Additionally, a photography walk at Watersmeet will provide expert tips from local photographer Mark Johnson.
Alice East, Senior Visitor Experience Officer for North Devon, said: “North Devon is full of incredible walking routes, and this festival is a great way to experience just how much it has to offer. With a different walk every day, it’s a chance to explore new places, meet the teams who look after them, and see what makes this landscape so special.”
Walks are priced between £3 and £6 per person, booking in advance is essential (unless otherwise stated). For more information and to secure a place, please visit: What's on in North Devon l Devon | National Trust
