The Heart FM offices in Devon this week played host to the Venus Awards sponsorship breakfast, where elite businesses across the region were invited to a preview of a new initiative to the region specifically created to recognise and reward local women in business. The Plymouth Daily is proud to support the awards and we hope that others too will get behind this important initiative to highlight the vital role women play in business.

Tara Howard, founder of Venus Awards says, “We are very proud to bringing the 2013 Venus Awards to Devon, as we know how important it is to recognise women in business. It is massively important to let everyone know how successful women have been in recent years and how the ‘glass ceiling’ has finally started to break, giving women an opportunity to progress in business and rival men with some of the most demanding and high paid jobs.

With companies such as NatWest, Heart FM, The Plymouth Daily and the FSB supporting the awards they are sure to be as big a success in Devon as elsewhere.” All present at the sponsorship breakfast left keen to support the awards and with a greater understanding of how important women are in business. For example, there are roughly 620,000 majority women-owned businesses in the UK generating around £130 billion turnover.

The Venus Awards Devon is due to launch in Devon in 2013 and Venus Awards are looking for female-friendly business to sponsor the awards. If you feel your business qualifies and would benefit from engaging with business women on a more personal level, you can contact Celia Delaney who is spearheading the awards in Devon at Celia@celiadelaney.co.uk.
