New Happy Days nursery to open in Derriford
Happy Days Nurseries has announced that building work has started on a new Happy Days nursery situated at Derriford Business Park.
Working in partnership with Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust, the new Happy Days nursery will continue to operate as a workplace nursery for Derriford Hospital staff as well as a nursery for the local community. Expected to open in summer 2013, it will replace the existing nursery in the grounds of Derriford Hospital.
As well as plan for a summer programme for children of all ages to engage with the rich natural diversity of the woodland environment, the new nursery will provide:
- Direct access to outdoors for all age groups including a woodland area offering lots of opportunity for exploratory play
- Smaller rooms with fewer children in each area
- Natural and soothing décor
- Rooms furnished with beautiful wooden furniture which is ergonomically designed to support the developing bodies of the youngest children.
Jackie Arthur, Managing Director of Happy Days Nurseries explains: “At Happy Days Nurseries, we are well used to managing change and indeed, one of the highlights of the last move we made was the delight and excitement of the children with their new nursery.
“Working in partnership with Derriford Hospital we are able to deliver childcare that is a real benefit to the staff of the hospital whilst at the same time being a key resource the local area.
“There is already lots of excitement and ideas from the children about their new nursery and they are already looking forward to settling in to the new building during July.”
Parents will be kept up-to-date with the development of the new nursery and from early July several open days will be held at the new Happy Days nursery to give parents and those who would like to join Happy Days at Derriford the opportunity to see the completed setting, and ask any questions.
For new parents there will be the opportunity to speak to our managers about childcare that is best for them with affordable payment plans to ease the transition when first joining a nursery.
Clare Conway, HR Advisor at Plymouth Hospitals Trust said: “The nursery is a real benefit to our staff as it means their children are on site with a provider that understands the needs of the hospital. We have had positive feedback from parents who are looking forward to a new nursery with direct access to the outdoors.”
