Plymouth site manager wins national house building award
A site manager from Plymouth is celebrating after winning a prestigious national house building award.
Craig Rutherford, site manager at Taylor Wimpey’s Penlee development, beat off stiff competition from over 13,000 entries to be honoured with an NHBC (National House Building Council) Pride in the Job Quality Award. The award, which is one of 68 won by Taylor Wimpey site managers around the UK, recognises Craig’s dedication to building high quality homes for new home buyers and ranks the recently sold out Penlee in the top three per cent of developments across the UK.
Pride in the Job Quality Awards are presented following a stringent judging process by NHBC inspectors who perform spot checks and continuous assessment of developments throughout the year. The Quality Awards also provide homebuyers with the assurance that the development provides top quality homes and excellent customer service.
Craig, who is now building two, three and four bedroom houses at the Tregorrick View development in St Austell, said: “This award recognises the hard work of the whole team at Penlee who all took great pride in ensuring that the homes we built were completed to the highest possible standards. I’m delighted to have reached this stage of the competition and to be recognised by the industry in this way.”
Janine Copleston, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey adds: “We are committed to maintaining the highest levels of quality and customer service and this has ensured that we continue to be an NHBC award winning house builder year after year. Craig’s Quality Award is thoroughly deserved and we’ll all be supporting him as he progresses through to the regional heats and hopefully to the grand final in London.”
Jim Lyons, Regional Director for NHBC, the UK’s leading standards setter and warranty provider for new UK homes, said, “Winning a Pride in the Job Award is a major achievement for any site manager. These people are at the top of their game, ensuring that the homes they help create are of the highest standards. Each of our award recipients can be truly proud of this accolade.
“For over three decades, Pride in the Job has been a foundation of NHBC’s work to improve housing standards, encouraging best practice on site. The homes these individuals have built are without doubt among the best in the UK.”
Pride in the Job is the only UK-wide awards scheme that recognises the significant contribution of site managers who achieve the highest standards in new home construction. The scheme has been instrumental in raising the build quality of new homes in the UK for over three decades. The regional events take place in the autumn, whilst the Supreme Awards gala final will be held in London in January 2014.
