Plymouth City Council has been awarded £2.46 million from the Department for Transport to improve walking and cycling routes to and from the Derriford area.
The project will see a total investment of £3.51 million over the next five years and deliver more than four kilometres of the city’s Strategic Cycle Network.

Twelve more roads in Plymouth are to get a new lease of life over the next five weeks as the first phase of resurfacing for 2015 gets under way.
Plymouth City Council is spending more than £6 million improving the city’s roads and pavements this year, supported by its commitment to invest an extra £20 million in highway repairs between 2012 and 2022.
A programme of protective micro-asphalting will get under way on city roads on Thursday 2 October.
Micro-asphalting is used as a preventative measure on roads that are showing the early signs of wear and tear. It fills in all the cracks, potholes and voids, improves skid resistance and seals the road, preventing water getting in and extending its life.
The thousands of visitors walking the South Devon coastline this summer are benefiting from several improvement projects as part of the South West Coast Path 40th Anniversary.
Thanks to funding from the Great South West Walk, Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) and the National Trust, several projects have been completed, with more to go ahead later in the summer.

Plymouth City Council is announcing three large grants totalling £359,500 for the city. The first £199,500 is an annual grant allocation that ward councillors can spend on small schemes that make a big impact on their local communities.
The next phase of work to improve access to Plymouth train station will begin on Monday 17 June the Council have announced.
The main road into the station, which runs from North Road East to Saltash Road, is set to benefit from new footways, cycle parking, safer pedestrian crossing points (including two new zebra crossings) and better street lighting.
