Gunnislake Newbridge opening to pedestrians to allow bus service to operate

Commuters trying to cross the Tamar River between Devon and Cornwall at Gunnislake will be able to cross the Gunnislake Newbridge on foot to continue their bus journey.

Four roads across the city remain closed following heavy rain and strong winds.

Grand Parade, Madeira Road, Radford Road and Pier Street were closed this morning following damage to two walls; one on Madeira Road and other by the Drakes View Hotel. The Wet Wok and Waterfront restaurants have also suffered severe damage and flooding.

Bread Cookery Demo

In true River Cottage style, the bread making demo focuses on sour dough and soda bread. The session will begin by looking at how you make a sour dough starter.

The process for making the dough will be explained before tasting the freshly baked loaf itself. Learn how to make quick and delicious soda bread and how to form different shaped loaves.

The group session finishes with sharing dips and freshly made flat breads.

You will leave with a recipe for soda bread to try at home.
