Devonport Column Opening Ceremony

Devonport Column is one of the city’s finest heritage buildings.

Now fully restored and renovated thanks to a Heritage Lottery Grant, the public can access the 124-foot viewing platform for the first time in more than 50 years, offering the finest views across the city, Dartmoor, Cornwall and the Sound.

Come and be part of the opening celebration featuring heritage, performances, entertainment, music and food for all ages. Admission to the celebration event is free.

Well-known Plymouth based artist Brian Pollard will also be exhibiting his artwork from Saturday 11 May – Wednesday 15 May at Devonport Guildhall, and some of the artwork is available to purchase for a limited time only.

10.30am to 11.30am: Ceremonial Flag raising at Devonport Column to mark its official opening.

12pm to 4pm: Column open to the public to access the viewing platform.

6pm to 9pm: Evening celebration featuring live music and entertainment.

8.30pm: Illumination of Devonport Column.
