Plymouth Armed Forces Day Flag Raising– Monday 22 June
There will be a Flag raising ceremony in front of Plymouth Guildhall at 10am on Monday 22 June to raise awareness for Armed Forces Day. Following the raising of the flag the Lord Mayor of Plymouth will present veteran’s badges to new veterans.
Armed Forces Day Saturday 27 June 9.30am-11pm
Join us with military personnel, their families and veterans, as we all celebrate our Armed Forces past and present.
Located on Plymouth Hoe with spectacular panoramic views over Plymouth Sound visitors will be able to see showcase ‘villages’ from the Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force, Veterans and Emergency Service. As well as interactive equipment, displays and military vehicles there will be a number of Air Displays taking place throughout the afternoon.
RAF and Allied Air Force Memorial Service - 9.30am
The annual RAF and Allied Air Force Memorial Service will take place in front of the Royal Naval Memorial. The service will be followed by the Veterans Parade and marching bands, including the Band of HM Royal Marines Plymouth.
All veterans are invited to join in our parade.
Inter-service Field Gun Competition - from 1.30pm
For the first time, four services will compete in the Field Gun Competition in a number of heats.
Who will be crowned the best and win the ‘Babcock’ Cup? HM Naval Base Devonport, HMS Raleigh or 29 Commando Royal Artillery?

Air Displays, sponsored by UTC Aerospace Systems - throughout the afternoon
A number of different aircrafts will be making a flying visit into Plymouth for Armed Forces Day. Look to the sky and watch these amazing air displays.
Eurofighter Typhoon: The Typhoon Display is flown by 29 (Reserve) Squadron from RAF Coningsby. It shows the incredible performance of the aircraft.
RAF Tutor: Parented this year by No 16(R) Squadron at RAF Cranwell, Flight Lieutenant Shaun Kimberley returns for his second year flying The Grob 115E Tutor.
Bulldog: The Tutor replaced the Bulldog as the RAF's elementary trainer some 15 years ago.
Royal Navy Blackcat Wildcat: The Black Cat's are an exciting four-man helicopter display team who will thrill audiences at air shows with their dynamic flying displays in Wildcat helicopters.
Dr107 Design: The Rihn DR-107 One Design is an American aerobatic homebuilt aircraft that was designed by Dan Rihn and first flown in 1993.
Hawker Hunter Jet Fighter: The ex RAF aircraft is a standard Rolls Royce Avon powered Hunter T7 trainer.
BBC Experience

Then bring the family along to The BBC Experience at the Royal Armed Forces Day on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June. See yourself on the big screen, have your photo taken, meet some of your favourite CBeebies characters and try out your sports commentary skills!
Evening Concert, sponsored by C & G Catering - from 5pm
The Plymouth Royal Marine Band, based at Raleigh, will showcase their musical talents, getting the evening entertainment underway at 5pm. X-Factor contestant, Jay James, who served in the Royal Navy and worked at HMS Raleigh, will take to the stage at 6pm and get the party started with a number of well-known and new tracks.
Beatlemania, the ultimate Beatles experience will also be part of the evening concert. Regarded as one of the UK leading tribute acts, Beatlemania play to ecstatic sell- out audiences throughout the world and regularly appear on television and radio.
The evening will come to an end with a performance by ZU2, the world’s most authentic U2 tribute band.
