After last year’s unprecedented success, Devon’s ‘Blue Flag’ beach, Blackpool Sands, is gearing up to welcome back The Tribal Clash, an extraordinary battle for physical supremacy of epic proportions. Taking place on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st August, blood, sweat and tears are guaranteed as is an unrivalled atmosphere at this truly unique event. During the weekend, The Venus Café at Blackpool Sands will be open each day with extended opening hours (6.30am - 9.30pm), serving a tempting array of delicious locally sourced and homemade food and drink.

Attracting teams from as far afield as Europe, The Tribal Clash will see the beautiful shingle beach at Blackpool Sands transformed into a battleground as they compete in a catalogue of punishing events. To the beat of drums and under the watchful eye of hundreds of spectators, participants from 144 tribes will battle it out over two days in a number of gruelling events designed to push them to their absolute limits.

Commenting on the event, Michael Smith, co-owner of The Venus Company says: “We’re delighted to welcome The Tribal Clash back for a second year. It brings a terrific buzz to the café and beach and is hugely enjoyable for spectators as well as participants.”

Andrew Barker, director of The Tribal Clash adds: “You could describe The Tribal Clash as a fun, fitness event that takes place on a stunning beach with awesome live music, but that really doesn’t do it justice. The Tribal Clash is not so much a competition as a celebration. It’s a festival of fitness and friendship - a marriage of music and muscle.” Andrew adds: “There is nothing else quite like it anywhere on earth.”

Consisting of four members, two men and two women, each team must prepare themselves for whatever is thrown their way including lifting, dragging, carrying and manipulating awkward shaped objects. They’ll also need superb locomotive skills whether travelling up, under or over an array of obstacles, some of which may be positioned in Blackpool Sands’ spectacular turquoise waters. An exciting, actioned packed weekend for all, whether competing, supporting or simply spectating, the teepee Tribal village and on-site camping facilities (for competitors only) give this event a fantastic vibe, making it one definitely not to be missed.

Parking will be available throughout the weekend in the on-site car park at Blackpool Sands for visitors to The Venus Café and The Tribal Clash spectators, priced at £7 per day. Additional parking will be available in Stoke Fleming with a shuttle bus running down to the beach.

For those who are inspired to get active whilst watching, why not have a have a go at stand-up paddle boarding or kayaking with The Venus Company at Blackpool Sands. Located at some of the region’s best beaches including East Portlemouth and Bigbury on Sea, The Venus Company is a must visit award-winning beach café, takeaway and shop.
