Craft Gin Tasting: Six Spirits Selected by Specialists

This June, local spirits specialist Azu Spirits returns to The Cridford Inn with a summer gin tasting event exploring the stories and flavours behind six carefully selected English craft gins.

Hosted by Azu Spirits founder and events host Ellie Gibson, the blind tasting experience invites guests to explore the rich variety in craft gin—featuring unique distilling methods, local ingredients and fascinating backstories that give each spirit its own identity.

The six gins include:

• Oxford Physic Gin, distilled with botanicals from Britain’s oldest botanical garden
• Spirit of Ilmington Dry Gin, made using distilled cider apples from the local village
• Thunderflower Gin, infused with pink peppercorns and heather using vapour extraction
• Copper Frog, distilled over an open flame in Exmouth for a bold, oily spirit
• Bath Botanical No.1, made in 30L batches with handpicked lime flowers from Bath
• Wicked Wolf, a full-bodied gin known as the Spirit of Exmoor  

Each gin will be tasted blind using Azu Spirits’ signature tasting setup with numbered sharing bottles, nosing glasses, flavour notes and a wax-sealed envelope to reveal each spirit’s identity.

Ellie Gibson launched Azu Spirits in 2021 out of a passion for storytelling and spirits. Their hosted tastings are designed to bring people together around a shared table to enjoy fine spirits, learn the roots of flavour, and discover small-batch producers from around the UK and beyond.

Tickets are £29.99 per person, the tasting will begin at 2:30pm on Friday 21st June at The Cridford Inn in Trusham.
