Living Maritime History
A fleet of 40 to 50 historic gaff rigged sail boats starting will be calling into Plymouth on 8 May on their way round Britain as part of the celebrations for the Old Gaffer Association’s 50th anniversary.
At least four of the boats coming are over one hundred years old and most are elderly or modern reproductions of earlier sail boats. Come along to see them at the Mayflower Marina the afternoon of 8 May or on the following morning as they will sail in front of the Hoe and do a circuit of Plymouth Sound.
The fleet will be joined by 20 to 30 local gaff rigged boats making a colourful and lively spectacle.
Admission to the Mayflower Marina view is free but collections will be made for the RNLI.
Wednesday 8 May: Mayflower Marina, 12pm to 5.30pm
Thursday 9 May: Plymouth Hoe, 10.30am to 12pm
