Lunchtime Talk: Exploring and Excavating a Tudor Tide Mill
Insworke Tide powered corn mill on Millbrook Lake, Cornwall was the last tide mill building to have survived in the Plymouth area. Cynthia Gaskell Brown made a detailed study and excavated the interior in 2011 before it was converted for domestic and office use.
Tree ring dating, documents and unusual finds helped tease out a story involving the descendants of Robert Walpole, Parsons the millers and Skinners charabanc company. Come and find out more about archaeology without the pressures of Time Team!
Admission is free (suggested donation £2). Tickets must be booked in advance by calling 01752 304774 or collecting in person from the Museum's Welcome Desk. Any unreserved tickets will be available on the day. For the enjoyment of all attendees we will not admit latecomers if the gallery is full or very busy.
