The Pirates of Penzance

Pirates do the Twist!

Comic masterpiece The Pirates of Penzancereturns to Plymouth in a new production set in the late 1950s.

The Infamous Pirates of Penzance return to Plymouth with the international-award-winning PGS Theatre Productions at the Devonport Playhouse from 24th – 28th March. In recent years this company has presented ‘Chess – The Musical’, Monty Python’s ‘Spamalot’ and ‘Evita’.

As with many of the comic duo’s plots, the fun and farcical story involving The Pirates, bumbling police, a gaggle of girls and whimsical Major General keeps the typical Gilbert & Sullivan twist. ‘Pirates’ is packed full of famous songs, including, When the Foeman Bares his Steel” "I am the very model of a modern Major-General", and "With cat-like tread.”

This new and fresh production welcomes back our creative team from last year’s sell out production of Evita. With a 1950’s concept by Gareth Davies, Pirates will be co-directed by Carole Wilson, also choreographer, and Mark Sidey with music direction from Paul Foster. The high quality set, designed by Andy Martin, and professional orchestra, as expected from this award winning company, will make this a show to remember…

The Box Office is now open, and tickets are available from www.pgstheatre.com or by calling 01752 842197.
