Gaia Spa hosts property event
On 26th September, the new Gaia Spa at Boringdon Hall welcomed the women’s professional networking organization, Women in Property, for a networking showcase of the spa – the largest new build spa development completed in the UK this year.
The newly finished spa offers the finest facilities including 12 treatment rooms, a state of the art gym by Pulse Fitness, luxury infinity swimming pool and hydroptherapy pool, five heat experiences and the exclusive Gaia Spatisserie restaurant.
Local practices were involved in the design and construction of the new facilities, including Architectural practice Design Development Ltd, Project Managers Ward Williams Associates and contractor Jones Building Group; all based in Plymouth.
The group from Women in Property consisted of professionals from across the property and construction sector, including solicitors, architects, surveyors, estate managers and agents. Back in 2015 the group toured the development whilst under construction, providing a chance to see how the spa was constructed.
This latest event gave the group the opportunity to re-visit the development to see the finished building, experience the facilities and to see how it has progressed since the last visit – revealing how the vision has become a reality.
Diane Nettleton, Gaia Spa Director and client body, said: “Welcoming the Women in Property group to see the finished spa was a wonderful occasion. From showing them the initial stages of the build back in early 2015, to finally revealing the spa up and running in all its glory was a great experience for all, highlighting what a landmark achievement this build has been. The networking breakfast enabled the group to experience the spa first hand together– seeing the physical build and how the natural materials of wood, stone and glass have been incorporated within both interior and exterior. The women were also able to experience the psychological benefits of the spa with taster treatments using the bespoke Gaia blends of essential oils, and to admire the magnificent views over breakfast in the Gaia Spatisserie restaurant. This Women in Property networking event has shown how Gaia has gone full circle from concept to creation and, as Gaia continues to evolve, I’m sure will be the first of many more.”
Christine Skaar of Design Developments, and WIP Committee Member, who was the site Architect and Interior Design consultant for the project commented: “The spa has been a fantastic project to work on with an ambitious client looking to create a special spa environment unique to the South West. Overseeing the projects evolution from concept sketches and technical drawings to a place of luxury and tranquility has been an absolute pleasure. The event allowed professionals from varying sectors to see the transition from steel and concrete on site to an operational leisure and hospitality building with staff and customers.”
Sarah Greenslade of Ward Williams Associates and WIP Devon and Cornwall Chairman said “It has been a fantastic opportunity for WIP to visit the site whilst under construction to understand how the facilities were built, then to come back to enjoy the finished product.”
The visit provided a learning opportunity as well as informal networking in a luxury setting for both existing and new members of the group.
