Council boost for high tech jobs in Plymouth
A Plymouth based cutting edge medical firm is creating ten new jobs with support from Plymouth City Council.
The Plymouth International Medical and Technology Park is already a thriving home to medical, technology and research and development organisations. Now the Council is selling a one acre plot to a developer so a high tech health company can move in.
Council Leader Councillor Tudor Evans said: “This is fantastic news and I’m delighted we are using our land to support the growth of Plymouth’s high tech industries. The local company that’s due to move into the new offices that will be built on the plot is at the cutting edge of research and the development, developing new products and processes for the health sector, including Derriford hospital. We have an ambitious growth agenda for the city and it’s very important that we support firms based here and helping to drive our economy forward.”
Developer, Unit Build, will put up 10,000 square feet of high quality office space on the plot allowing the local company to expand its workforce.
Nigel Passmore, Unit Build said: “This is an exciting opportunity to continue the successful development of Plymouth International Medical and Technology Park. Our client has been looking for new premises with good transport connections that’s also close to Derriford hospital and this site meets those requirements. There are already a number of successful businesses on the Park and we are looking forward to being able to provide facilities for another growing business to re-locate there.”
