Plymouth University has become the first higher education institution in the country to join an elite global group of entrepreneurship educators.

The University has accepted an invitation from Babson College’s Global Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education (GCEE) and will now work with its international members to share knowledge, expertise and experience.

Membership of the GCEE will provide Plymouth with access to a number of exclusive benefits, including insight into Babson College’s undergraduate and graduate curriculum, and a range of joint research and student-focused projects.

Babson College, founded in 1919 in Wellesley, Massachusetts, is one of the world’s most acclaimed private business schools. It created the GCEE to disseminate its expertise and to provide a structure to foster collaboration among institutions engaged in entrepreneurship education.

Professor Wendy Purcell, Vice-Chancellor, said: “The invitation to join this select global consortium of entrepreneurship educators is recognition of Plymouth University’s innovative approach to embedding enterprise in the curriculum, as well as its outstanding track record for supporting economic growth and development.

“Through the GCEE network, Plymouth students will have access to new and exciting international opportunities, and as a University we’ll be able to share our expertise with new partners around the world.”

The University will use the resources accessed through the consortium as part of its launch of a new flagship Futures Enterprise Centre in 2014, which will bring together a wide range of its enterprise and entrepreneurial work. Membership will also provide Plymouth with the opportunity to take part in Babson’s Annual Summit.
