Prospective students invited UTC Plymouth open day

As the end of the first academic year nears at one of Plymouth’s newest schools, students entering years 10 or 12 in September are invited to attend UTC Plymouth’s open evening this week to find out what the college could offer them next year.

On Wednesday 25th June the college will open its doors to prospective students who are moving into year 10 or 12 in September. Starting at 5:30pm, the open evening will allow prospective students to meet with staff and fellow students, tour the facilities and find out how UTC Plymouth could transform their education.

The new college, which opened its doors in September last year, specialises in teaching the scientists and engineers of the future, mixing classroom learning with practical tasks in the workshops for live projects with some of the leading employers in the region.

Principal Mary Cox, said: “At UTC Plymouth we approach education in a different way to make sure that all of our students are fully equipped with the transferable skills needed for their future journey, be that employment, an apprenticeship or university.

“Our first cohort of students have already achieved great success in securing apprenticeships and finding employment within their chosen field.

“Our open evenings are a great opportunity for prospective students to come along for a chat and find out more about what we can offer here at UTC Plymouth.”

The open evening will begin at 5.30pm on Wednesday at UTC Plymouth, Park Avenue, Devonport. Those who would like to attend are encouraged to register online at www.utcplymouth.org or just turn up on the evening.

Wednesday’s open evening is one of four that will take place at the college over the summer period, with others scheduled for Tuesday 15th July, Thursday 21st August and Friday 22nd August. For more information, visit www.utcplymouth.org
