Sun shines on Marine Academy's GCSE results day
Record Breaking Results!
Another record-breaking year for Marine Academy Plymouth; 98.8 per cent of students have achieved five or more GCSEs or equivalent (95 per cent achieving five GCSEs A* to C [last year this was 85.2 per cent])
Marine Academy Plymouth students will celebrate record-breaking results for the school as they collect their exam results today.
Eight GCSE subjects at MAP saw a 100 per cent pass rates and early indications show that this has contributed to MAP likely matching last year’s 46 per cent of students achieving five grade Cs or better including BOTH English and maths.
Marine Academy Plymouth has done well again in the perceived 'harder' subjects including English, Science, and Geography with the A grades particularly prevalent in Business & Finance and English; 10 A*s and 16 As were awarded Business & Finance and 100 per cent of students achieved grade C or above.
55 GCSE A* and As grades were awarded to MAP students.
Nick Ward, Principal Designate at Marine Academy Plymouth, said: "It’s inspiring to see such year on year improvement in our students’ results. They have impressed in many areas. In particular, I am delighted by the levels of progress they have made in English and Maths (since entering secondary education from primary). These results set our students up for the future, whether their next steps are MAP’s 6th Form, a further education college or an apprenticeship.
“I know our students are proud of their achievements and I congratulate them, but I’d also like to acknowledge our staff and our community, for the invaluable support afforded to our students.
"Marine Academy Plymouth is an Academy for the whole community to be proud of, and its worth noting that we have done well in vocational subjects, too. 15 out of 24 Sport students have come away with double distinctions stars (DD*).
“We are determined for our students and that determination is raising aspirations and making a difference to our students’ futures.”
