Year 7 Plympton Academy residential trip a great success

Year 7 students from Plympton Academy spent three days in Bude recently on their first secondary school residential trip.

The youngsters had the opportunity to take part in a wide range of adventurous activities including, high ropes, kayaking, dragon boating, caving, surfing and body boarding, during their stay at Adventure International.

The aim of the trip was to allow students to gain a greater independence, improve team work and communication skills, take up challenges and try activities they have never done before and most importantly, have fun.

The students spent three days there with their Head of Academic progress, Mrs Joanna Pengelly, their Pastoral mentor, Mrs Pulleston, the Year 7 tutors, Mr Richard Harvey, Mr Richard Thompson, Miss Chelsi Ludlow, Miss Charlotte Skinner and Miss Claire Finch and Mr Graham Foxley, Head of Languages and Mr Andrew Harris, Behaviour manager.

The Principal Ms Lisa Boorman also stayed the night and joined the students surfing.

“Everyone had a really enjoyable time and the glorious autumn sunshine made it even more special,” said Joanna Pengelly.
