Stagecoach celebrates a golden year
Stagecoach South West celebrated the first anniversary of its flagship luxury Stagecoach Gold bus service, which connects Plymouth to the English Riviera on Tuesday (30 September).
Such is the success of this premium bus route that, in May of this year, Stagecoach responded to customer demand by doubling the frequency of buses between Plymouth and Torquay. Buses now run every 30 minutes, Mondays to Saturdays and up to every hour on Sundays.
In addition, commuters now benefit from a pre-9am arrival into Torquay and the last departure from Plymouth leaves at 10.30pm, coinciding with theatre finishing times and providing late evening connections to the popular town of Ivybridge.
Michael Watson, Managing Director of Stagecoach South West, said: “Since its introduction last year, the Gold service has proved to be a resounding success and I am grateful to our passengers for their loyal support during the past year.
“The leather seats, free wi-fi and extra leg room all add some every day luxury to bus travel – and all for the price of a regular bus ticket!.”
As well as linking Plymouth with Torquay, Gold also provides regular connections between Totnes and Dartmouth. A day of unlimited travel on the entire length of the Gold service is just £7.50 for an Adult Explorer. For regular commuters, a 1 week Megarider Gold provides 7 days of unlimited travel for £26. Both of these tickets can also be used for unlimited travel on any of the operator’s other services within Devon.
Customers on board Stagecoach Gold enjoy a ‘5 star’ bus experience with a dedicated team of smartly uniformed drivers, free Wi-Fi and comfortable seats with lots of extra leg room. Stagecoach Gold is also characterised by its ‘Customer Promise’ which enshrines the service standards customers can expect from the company, vehicles and drivers.
