DJ Boogie gets the Red Nose Day party started in Plymouth

Pupils and teachers at Riverside Community Primary School in Plymouth welcomed a special guest today, as giant Red Nose DJ Boogie visited the school to help kick off their Red Nose Day fundraising efforts.

Earlier this morning DJ Boogie made an early stop off to take in Plymouth Hoe and Smeaton’s Tower.  At the primary school he led a Red Nose Day themed assembly and joined the children in a rendition of ‘Put a Nose on it’, the official Red Nose Day school song.

Last time around, the schoolchildren, staff and teachers of the South West raised a staggering £295,000 which is hard at work helping vulnerable people in the local area, across the rest of the UK and Africa. This year, Riverside Community Primary School is leading the charge, planning a danceathon and red wacky clothes day.

Brian Jones, head teacher, Riverside Community Primary School said, “DJ Boogie’s visit has put us all in the Red Nose day spirit before our danceathon and wear red and wacky clothes day. It’s a great way to bring everyone together, the school council have come up with something that will really enthuse the children and raise as much money as we can!”

This year, Comic Relief is challenging schools in the South West to make their laugh matter. From school comedy and talent shows, bake sales or selling noses, there are loads of ways for schools to get involved.
