The garden at the Discharge Assessment Unit (DAU) at Mount Gould has recently been transformed.

Nevada Construction, Ward Williams Associates and Co Create Architects spent the day renovating the outdoor space outside Saltram and Lopes wards, making it a more enjoyable space for staff and patients to use.

Associate Director for Nevada, Colin Aldworth, said: “It was great to be able to volunteer our time in such a beneficial way, it was a pleasure to be able to brighten the outdoor space of the DAU, after completing the refurbishment of this Ward earlier in the year.

“The whole of the University Hospitals Plymouth team made the construction process in a tricky environment run smoothly, and we wanted to give something tangible back.”

The team spent a sunny Friday last month clearing a large disused patch which was overgrown with weeds. They have installed planters with solar lights, bench seating and finished the look with stone chippings. All those involved kindly volunteered their time as well as donating plants and materials.

Matron, Vicky Dreery said: “We are all so very grateful - patients and staff are enjoying the beautiful view in the lovely surroundings your team have provided.”

The Discharge Assessment Unit at Mount Gould officially opened on Friday 16 June after undergoing complete refurbishment by Nevada and now provides holistic and comprehensive discharge assessments and reablement for those with complex needs.
