End of life team wins Great British Care Award
South Devon End of Life Project, which is part of independent care provider Agincare’s live-in service, has won Home Care Team of the Year in the Great British Care Awards.
The team picked up the top award for the southwest region at a special ceremony at Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol, and now progresses to the national final on the 25th of September at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham.
The awards pay tribute to teams and individuals across the UK that have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.
In recognising the team’s achievements, judges said: “A dedicated and inspirational group of care professionals. They support one another to provide the very best care and wellbeing.”
Based in Torquay, the South Devon End of Life Team works closely with Torbay and South Devon NHS Trust to deliver support that enables people to spend their final days at home surrounded by their family, friends, memories and possessions.
Manager Loredana Sima (pictured below) said: “I’m very proud of the whole team, and delighted that we won the Great British Home Care Team of Year award for the southwest region. All of the team, each and every one, is so dedicated.
“End of life care is very challenging and rewarding, where we work 10 hour shifts in rotation in what can clearly be very tough circumstances for everyone involved.
“The job requires a special type of person who is dedicated, empathetic and passionate about delivering excellent care from the heart every single day.
“We are all very hopeful that we have a good chance of winning at the national awards in September. I’m sure that there are many special entries but hope that just how much we care about what we do shines through.”
The team is part of leading independent care provider Agincare's live-in care service.
Agincare Operations Director Sam Mayes added: “Congratulations to the South Devon End of Life Team for winning the Great British Care Awards.
“I’m so very proud of what they’ve achieved. It’s so well deserved, they’re an outstanding team in every way, and we’re honoured to have them here at Agincare.”
