Hilarious arthurian adventure hits Plymouth
Award-winning physical comedy theatre company Le Navet Bete are making a triumphant return to Theatre Royal Plymouth (TRP) on 01 November 2025, bringing with them their five-star hit show, King Arthur. This laugh-out-loud retelling of the legendary tale promises a wild ride packed with slapstick, silliness, and outrageous humour – perfect for the whole family.
Set in a chaotic Camelot, the story sees King Arthur trying to rescue his crumbling kingdom’s reputation. Just when all seems lost, three hopeless squires appear, sparking a legendary adventure full of absurdity and unexpected heroism. With a blend of physical comedy and fast-paced storytelling, audiences will find themselves both crying with laughter and cheering on the action.
Teaming up with Olivier Award nominee John Nicholson, Le Navet Bete have crafted a fresh, modern take on the Arthurian myths. It’s a high-energy show that celebrates accessible, family-friendly theatre while staying true to the company’s roots in physical performance, clowning, and inventive storytelling.
Formed in 2007 by four University of Plymouth graduates, Le Navet Bete has built a reputation as one of the UK’s top touring comedy theatre companies. Their previous productions, including a record-breaking Cinderella, have earned critical acclaim and delighted audiences nationwide.
Co-founder Al Dunn said: “We’re all about making theatre fun and accessible for everyone. We can’t wait to share our version of King Arthur with Plymouth and beyond!”
