Moor help for Dartmoor Rescue Group
Dartmoor Rescue Group were the recipients of a very generous £1000 from Courtland Masonic Lodge in Paignton last week. Throughout the years many lodges have been kind enough to support us.
The money was raised from the members during David Watson's year as Master of the Lodge, David chose the Dartmoor rescue Group as he enjoys walking on Dartmoor with his dog, and as we say “Dartmoor Rescue is for lovers of the Moor from lovers of the Moor”
Alec Collyer (Treasurer Dartmoor Rescue Group):-
“We are of course very grateful to David and the Brethren for thinking of us. There are four Dartmoor Rescue Teams around the Moor at Okehampton, Tavistock, Plymouth and my Team at Ashburton. Each Team needs around £25K-£30K a year to keep operational, we don’t get any statutory Government funding so every penny has to be fundraised.
Dartmoor Rescue is not just about the Moorland, our Teams assist the Police around the Force area and wider afield in searching for ‘vulnerable’ and ‘High risk’ missing persons, at all times of day and night 24/7/365”
