Mums and dads in Plymouth are being told to give the real deal a go and try out real nappies.

A number of events are taking place next week designed to give parents and carers the low down on the alternative to disposable nappies.

Modern real nappies are absorbent and easy to use and by using them parents can help cut down the amount of rubbish that goes to landfill and save money.

The events will be held on:

• Tuesday 21 April – Buzzy Bees, Mutley Baptist,  1.30pm – 3pm
• Wednesday 22 April – Pop up Shop, Plympton Ridgeway, 1pm – 3pm

The week will end with a party to celebrate the use of real nappies at the Green House, Chelson Meadow, Plymstock, on Friday 24 April between 10am and 12pm.

Councillor Brian Vincent, Cabinet Member for the Environment said: “This week is designed to get new parents to think about the alternative to disposal nappies which cannot be recycled.

“Most babies use around 5,000 nappies in their first two and half years – that’s a lot of rubbish that costs us all to dispose of.”

The events will have real nappy advisors on hand to talk to parents about how to use real nappies and answer any questions. Parents and carers can also book into free trial kits so that they can try before they buy.
