Plymouth prepares for Boxing Day sales

Retailers in Plymouth City Centre are busy preparing for one of the busiest days of the year – the Boxing Day sales!

With a number of big high street stores offering over 50 per cent discount on their items, there are many bargains to be had.

For all those early birds looking to fuel their shopping sprees, some cafes will be open serving tea, coffee and breakfast including Americano, open from 7.30am, and Jake’s, open from 9am.

Next will be the one of the first shops to open their doors at 6am, offering half price discounts across their store.

Debenhams will also be offering a 50 per cent discount on many of their concessions and will open at 7am followed by River Island, Boots and Marks and Spencer at 8am.

Most stores will be open from 9am including Blacks, Body Shop, Top Shop, Fat Face, and all the clothing stores in Drake Circus Shopping Centre.

Sports Direct will be offering up to 80 per cent discount on their sale items and House of Fraser up to 70 per cent.

City Centre Manager, Stefan Krause, said: “Boxing Day is one of the busiest days for retail in the city and people start queuing outside Next from 5am – sometimes even earlier. There is a real buzz in the air and it is the official launch of the January sales, which is excellent for the local economy.

“The outdoor ice rink on the Piazza will be open, 11.30am to 5.30pm, as well as the Snow Globe from 10am which now have a scene from Frozen inside – providing a fun rest bite from the shopping.”
