Roar your terrible roars at Big Wild Rumpus
Devonport Library is joining The Big Wild Rumpus, a nationwide campaign to celebrate the nation’s love of Maurice Sendak’s book, Where the Wild Things Are.
Fans young and old will gather at venues across the UK to read the book aloud and unleash their inner wild things at 11am on Saturday 13 June.
The gnashing of terrible teeth, rolling of terrible eyes and showing of terrible claws will be actively encouraged at Devonport Library, where the reading will be followed with roaring rhymes and wild crafts until 3pm.
The Big Wild Rumpus is about bringing people together to engage with literature in unusual, imaginative and sociable ways. It hopes to unite communities and allow all who take part to throw their inhibitions out the window for a short while.
Full details – and help on organising your own wild rumpus – are available at www.thebigwildrumpus.com and on Twitter @_wildrumpus and #thebigwildrumpus.
