Royal William Yard becomes a live music hotspot
Not to be missed this summer, Plymouth’s popular waterside destination, Royal William Yard, is set to celebrate the sound of local musical talent. With stunning sea views, the Yard’s grand historic buildings set the stage and become a backdrop like no other, playing host to a range of artists in different outdoor and indoor locations.
Visitors can look forward to outdoor evenings of chilled tunes courtesy of the ever-popular Yard Sessions. Sit back, relax and discover an eclectic mix of live music amidst the stunning coastal scenery of Firestone Bay, home of South West SUP. Embrace an evening of jazz with Rue Band, on Friday 29th July from 17:30 to 20:00. make a note of upcoming Yard Sessions scheduled for Friday 12th and Friday 26th August from 17:30 to 20:00, for more from the region’s thriving music scene.
Heading into the summer with a regular programme of musical talent is The Club House, which hosts a weekly live music slot each and every Saturday 7pm-10pm. Local acts and budding musicians are even encouraged to get in touch online about a live music residency. Relax with a seasonal cocktail – including a blood orange spritz and watermelon garibaldi – and everything from light bites to the restaurant’s signature Hanging Kebabs.
Take your dining experience to the next level at the Yard’s resident Japanese inspired restaurant, Wagamama, during its new series of Symphony Sessions. A unique opportunity for diners to sample the sound of the UK’s up-and-coming musicians, these exclusive and intimate gigs even offer a free refreshing summer drink when attendees quote ‘symphony sessions’ – and can be enjoyed alongside Wagamama’s new summer menu.
Make a day of it at Le Vignoble’s 10th birthday party on 23rd July, which will feature an afternoon and night of live music, good food and great wine on the terrace and lawn – book a place at the hottest party in town here. Music comes courtesy of Elani Evangelou, Jamie Yost, Rue, Russell Sinclair and DJ Vinyl Paul. Or schedule in an end-of-summer date on 10th September for music, carefully curated wines and tasty tapas at the ‘Soul Century’ Live DJ event, which will take you on a tour through jazzy, deep, soulful, nu-disco and funky house music.
