Tiverton Adventure Playground gears up for busy summer following donation

A charity in Tiverton that has supported young people, students and their families in the community for 50 years has received a £1,500 donation from local homebuilder Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter.

Tiverton Adventure Playground, set within a 3.5 acre wooded playground in Cowleymoor, Tiverton, is the largest designated adventure play facility within a 50-mile radius of Tiverton in Mid-Devon. The playground along with its team of volunteers are committed to providing free access and opportunities for children of all ages to explore and experience the wonders of play.

The Tiverton Adventure Playground is free upon entry for children to attend and is open during the school holidays all year round. A group of playworkers and volunteers are on hand at all times, rather than running activities, they are guided by what the children want to do, at the playground children are encouraged to choose their own play and explore their inner outdoor creativity.

Ash Taylor, Committee Chair and Playworker at the Tiverton Adventure Playground, said: “The core value of Tiverton Adventure Playground is that every child has the right to free play. The playground sits in the heart and centre of the community and we are incredibly grateful to receive this donation from Barratt Homes. This will contribute towards us continuing to provide a fun and free place for children. The playground has been open for 50 years this year and we look forward to celebrating its birthday this summer.”
