Plymouth Devils' number one Ty Proctor out for the rest of the season
Plymouth Devils' Australian star Ty Proctor will miss the rest of the season with a persistent neck injury.
The 26-year-old Devils' number one suffered the injury in Edinburgh in May and has not been able to compete in the team's speedway season since.
Team Manager, Lee Trigger thanked the injured rider and told the Devils' website: "Ty has informed me today after getting news from his specialist that he is now going to be sidelined for the rest of the season due to his ongoing neck injury. Ty is booked in for an operation at the end of this month where the plan will be to remove the disc in his neck & fuse the bones together.
"This is very sad news for Ty & Plymouth alike as he had settled in very nicely as our number one.
"I would like to wish Ty all the best with his operation and a very speedy recovery back to full fitness where I hope he will continue in the same vein of form from where he left off before his injury.
"I'd like to personally thank Ty for his very professional approach and dealings with my self both pre season & also after the season got under way. He has been a pleasure to deal with both on and off track.
"I would also like to thank Ty for his contribution to the Devils this season where he stepped in to very big boots left behind from the previous season.
"Ty grew into a very commanding number one for the Devils both at home and away where I could rely on him to return a very high points tally for the team. Thank you Ty and best wishes"
Plymouth had brought in ELITE League rider Seb Alden as a replacement. Alden, a 28-year-old Swede was signed as an interim measure on a 28-day agreement, doubling up with his King's Lynn ELITE contract.
