Sheridan and Banton celebrate double award for Argyle

Plymouth Argyle are celebrating news of two awards announced on Friday (12 April).

John Sheridan, who has lifted the club out of the relegation zone and into a good sequence of form including four wins in their last five games, has been named as League Two manager of the month for March.

Midfielder Jason Banton, the goalscoring hero of their recent run, including the winner in the Devon derby against Exeter City, has been named League Two player of the month.

Despite the good news, the club are focused on the remaining fixtures of a tough season. Their impressive form has not guaranteed safety from relegation and they stand just three points above the drop zone within a group of clubs battling for League Two status.

Sheridan was appointed manager in January after Argyle sacked previous boss Carl Fletcher. Since then he has gradually revived Argyle's fortunes.

Banton was brought in on-loan from Championship side Crystal Palace in February and has proved an immediate success, scoring six goals to become the Pilgrims' current top scorer this season.
