A group of travel and tourism students has raised a total of £121.30 from various enterprise activities they have undertaken as part of their course during the summer term.

A total of 35 level three students, who are aged between 16 and 19, worked as a team whilst developing their enterprise skills to raise money for the College’s chosen charity, St Luke’s Hospice.

The students held a car wash, a sweet raffle and, following a trip to New York, set-up an American candy store to sell sweets they purchased whilst visiting the ‘Big Apple’!

Travel and tourism lecturer, Sam Welsford, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for the students to work together and use their enterprise skills whilst raising money for a charity that has touched most people within our community.

“Throughout the summer term students have worked hard on ideas and promoted the events, with all of the events proving to be successful.”

Student Francesca Griffiths, 18, added: “I really enjoyed getting involved with running the events that raised money for such a worthy cause. These events also counted towards course work for my level 3 diploma.”
