Well-known Rabbi to visit Devon

Rabbi Danny Rich, pictured above, the Chief Executive of Liberal Judaism for nearly ten years and author of various books on matters of faith and belief, will be visiting Devon this month.

On Tuesday 20 June he will be speaking at the Annual Meeting of the Devon Faith and Belief Forum at the Coaver Centre, County Hall, Exeter, on the theme “Is Interfaith Dialogue merely an excuse for Kosher Tea and Halal biscuits?”

The Forum’s Secretary Martyn Goss, said, “We look forward to another prestigious speaker addressing our meeting following Hindu and Islamic talks in the last two years.  It is so essential at this time to listen attentively to one another, regardless of belief, in order to develop better relationships of mutual respect and trust.”

There have been active Jewish communities in Devon since synagogues were built in Plymouth and Exeter in the early eighteenth century.  There is also a local group in Totnes.  Members of these communities have contributed significantly to the life of the county in many ways.

The DFBF was founded in 2006 to cover Devon, Plymouth and Torbay.  It includes participants from Bahá'í, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Humanist, Jewish, Muslim, Pagan and Sikh traditions.
