MP delighted with successful litter pick
Alison Seabeck, MP for Plymouth Moor View, was delighted that so many residents and volunteers turned up in Barne Barton for a mass litter pick on Saturday.
The local MP decided to organise the session following an earlier street surgery in the area in which the issue of litter was mentioned by a number of local residents.
Alison Seabeck MP said: "I felt we could try and do something about it and invited all the housing associations, local residents and tenants groups to join me in a litter pick.
"It was great to see so many young people turn out and although the litter problem was less obvious than before, we still managed to fill a great number of bags and organised the removal of some dumped furniture, a fridge and other bulky items.
"I want to thank Sanctuary Housing and Devon & Cornwall Housing Association who came along to help and support the litter pick with coffee and cakes.
"Plymouth City Council also backed the residents' efforts and supplied bags and pickers. The biggest thank you goes out to all the local residents who turned out and got involved with a real community effort."
