Residents living in or near the Forder Valley are being invited to a series of information events to get the latest update on the Forder Valley Transport Improvements.

Plymouth City Council’s project team, along with the contractor Balfour Beatty, will be on hand to explain the scheme, answer questions and to outline the schedule for the project, which includes Forder Valley Link Road and improvements at Forder Valley Roundabout.

The dates are:

  • Thursday 16 May, Tor Bridge School, 2pm to 7pm
  • Friday 17 May, Elm Community Centre, 10am to 7pm
  • Saturday 18 May, Windsor House, Tavistock Road, 10am to 2pm

The Forder Valley Link Road is one of the biggest infrastructure projects the Council has ever embarked on and will create a much-needed second route between the A38 and Derriford, avoiding the often heavily congested Manadon roundabout and A386 Tavistock Road.

When finished, the link road will connect the junction of Forder Valley Road and Novorossiysk Road with William Prance Road and key destinations such as Derriford Hospital, the University of St Mark and St John and Plymouth Science Park.

As well as unlocking economic growth in the north of the city, the scheme objectives are to improve traffic flow on both the Forder Valley and A386 Tavistock Road routes, open up the potential to provide new bus links from the east and the south of the city and to provide new walking and cycling routes.

Work on constructing the scheme starts this autumn and is expected to be completed in early 2022.

A separate press briefing about the scheme is being arranged. Updated graphics and images will be available as part of the briefing.
