Do you feel that your employees aren’t currently working as hard or as productively as you know they can? If so, then you need to set about the all-important task of getting more out of them right away. Fail to take such action and your profit margins will be sure to dwindle sooner rather than later…

Here are a few things you can do to get more out of your workforce:

Hire new staff

Hiring new staff members could end up benefiting you in a number of different ways. For one, it will allow you to fill your workforce with fresh-faced workers who have new ideas and are hungry for success. As well as this, the fear of being replaced could force your current crop of employees to buck up their ideas and work harder than they have been as of late.

When hiring new staff, it’s important to go through all the right channels and to use the right vacancy platforms. More to the point, you should be posting your vacancies on recruitment sites that will allow you to come into contact with the exact type of worker you are looking to hire. If you are looking to hire an accountant, for example, this would mean posting your job vacancies on financial services recruitment agencies.

Reward your staff for hard work

More often than not, being paid at the end of the month won’t be enough to convince your employees to give their all to your company’s cause. If you really want them to work hard over a sustained period of time, you have to dangle another carrot…

Your staff members will be sure to work harder for you if their efforts are recognised in the form of rewards, so be sure to gift hard-working employees with something other than just their salary. And fear not: employee incentives don’t necessarily have to break the bank! Here are a few cost-effective ways to reward the hardest working members of your workforce:

• Gift them with the best parking space for a certain amount of time
• Give them the first choice of food in the canteen
• Let them work in an office of their choosing (including your own) for the day
• Make a show of how hard they’ve worked in front of the entirety of your workforce
Throw them a party
• Pay them double time for the day
• Allow them an extra day of holiday

Switch up your working schedule

Nine-to-five environments don’t suit everybody, which is why you should seek to switch things up a bit with regards to your company’s working schedule.

One way to do this is to replace your structured working hours with what is known as ‘working windows.’ This will entail your employees being handed a set number of tasks that need to be completed before the window shuts — it will be up to them how and when they choose to tackle their workload. They could go ahead and finish all their tasks by noon, or they could spread their tasks out over a number of days.
